the original mix of tape replay is nearly nine minutes long and can only be described as a journey. its the perfect transition track, able to turn minimal sets into future disco, a house set into electro-funk, a techno set into a live jam-a-thon or a rigid set of any kind (like too many these days) into something with emotional depth. for remix duties we have enlisted our favorite producers will saul & tam cooper from simple records. much like their tech-house revision of phoniques bang, recently released on dessous, here on fresh meat they have put together a subtle yet bassy response to the wow & flutter original. the track builds and builds and at about three fourths through it explodes with lush keys, rich pads and a breakdown thats executed perfectly. these gents are on point and we are more than excited to have them along for the trip.

on remix duties this time we have the mighty drumsound & bassline smith combo. the original was screaming out for a d&b rework and we were more than stoked when they agreed to treat it. they extract the essence of what makes the original so good, making it their own stepping up a gear from 128 to 160bpm and into the future.

the original of >she turns red< is still being caned by the likes of laurent garnier, claude von stroke, loco dice and chris duckenfield. due to this appeal we thought it appropriate to quickly commission some fancy fresh remixes by house of black dress and david duriez !!

following their celebrated >meat is murder< ep, meat, aka carsten schuchmann, teams up with get physical regular einzelkind, arno völker and migual ayala, for >words from the frontline<. the ep opens with its title-track, words from the frontline. indeed, the word >frontline< is appropriate - the firm kickdrum sets the tone and pace before a hi-hat tattoo reminiscent of a military march asserts itself. rushing synth effects edge in from the sides before the track expands to accomodate a bending, feintly jazzy keyboard motif. this is quickly absorbed into the tracks fierce, linear 4x4 progression, and the addition of crisp snap-claps make this a winning modern take on 2nd wave detroit-style techno.
